Less than two weeks to go until the Night in Question! And we got some awesome news.
Meet & Greet Meal Tickets
We have decided not to hold our Friday Meet & Greet at a restaurant this year. Instead, we will bringing a delicious taste of Texas to y’all. The world-famous Southside Market BBQ in Bastrop will be catering the Meet & Greet with a spread of their BBQ and sides.
To make this happen, we have to presell the meal ticket so we have the right amount of food for everyone who wants to eat at the hotel. So please, buy a meal ticket and enjoy this amazing food with us.
Meal tickets are only sale until 9/3/2021 at Noon! Get yours before then!
We are now only one month away from the Night in Question 3. We are excited to be holding our first LARP almost two years, and we are hard at work in the jackalope warrens getting things ready. But here’s some important things to know!
Make sure to join our Discord – there you can ask the staff questions, and link up with your fellow players and members of the same character groups in our discord! Remember to request group access in the #access-requests channel. Join here: https://discord.gg/ECrdDGAv
People’s health is immensely more important than LARP.
Vaccination, and only vaccination, has proven to be the real weapon in the fight to reclaim our lives from COVID-19. On every level, from fighting infection to reducing hospitalization, it is the only weapon in our arsenal that lets us do the things we love while also saving lives.
The Night in Question is a vaccination required event, and proof of vaccination will be required to attend. Proof of vaccination will be required at registration. You will not be checked in or allowed to attend any portion of the event, including socials, if you do not show proof of vaccination. This decision is not up for discussion.
We are looking into further safety measures, including conducting indoor portions of the events such as the workshops masked or moving them outdoors if feasible, if the current surge does not subside.
We will not be offering refunds for tickets based on our vaccination requirements. This decision is also not up for discussion.
Proof of vaccination must show you have received all necessary doses of one of the 4 major internationally accepted vaccines – Pfizer, AstraZeneca, J&J or Moderna – more than 14 days before the event. Acceptable proof includes:
A CDC vaccination card or equivalent from another national government, or photocopy of the same
A digital record of vaccination from an official source, including New York’s Excelsior Pass, Hawaii’s Safe Travels system or California’s Digital COVID-19 Vaccine Record
A printed or digital record from a retail pharmacy showing vaccination was completed and when
A digital record of vaccination from Travel Pass or VeriFLY, the two airline-supported vaccine verification systems
The Night in Question is a LARP at a rave, which means we need great DJs to set the soundtrack to the slaughter. We’re proud to announce our two star DJs for the night; one from darkest New England, and another king of the German Goth and Industrial scene.
DJ Dark-Wanderer is a essential part of the dark scene in southern Germany for over 20 years now. Dark, rhythmic and first of all danceable is the theme of his sets.
Founding member of [Insert-Scary-Name-Here], resident DJ of the Unverschämt fetish events and “Der Cult” in Nuremberg. No matter if on trucks, trains, in clubs or festivals. DJ Dark-Wanderer always delivers.
DJ DIRGE from Haven
For over twenty five years, DJ DIRGE has been New England’s own living dead DJ. It is the resident of HAVEN, a goth event that has run for over a quarter of a century. DIRGE makes its mixes from a variety of musical genres, from goth, industrial, EDM, synthwave, swing, new wave, and many more. DIRGE has performed at sci-fi & fantasy conventions like Arisia and fetish events such as the Fet Flea.
Throughout its extensive career, DIRGE has run and performed at numerous events – Excess, Allure, Eclipse, and Vigil, just to name a few. It has had the honor of performing with members of VNV Nation; and has hosted parties for KMFDM and The Birthday Massacre. In connection with the World of Darkness, DIRGE has been running and playing in games for nearly thirty years. It has been the storyteller for multiple large World of Darkness convention LARPs. It has also been a storyteller for several national and international LARP organizations. When DIRGE is performing, one thing is certain, the music is going to wake the dead.
The Night in Question 3 is rising from the ashes this September 10th and 11th in Bastrop, TX. Jackalope Live Action Studios has postponed the third run of The Night in Question by one year, to September 11th, 2021.
People are more important than LARP. Nothing we do is worth risking the lives and well-being of our players, our staff, and our loved ones. When we began watching the COVID-19 situation early this year, we had hoped that the pandemic would be over by the end of the summer. But this has become extremely unlikely, for a variety of reasons.
We share your frustration and disappointment at having to do this. We love running our events, and this is the first postponement we’ve done in three years. But we look forward to running a safe and awesome event – now with extra preparation!
Next year, it will be one hell of a party.
At this time, all tickets for the 2020 event are being honored for the 2021 event. Tickets will be changed to be available for next year, and can still be purchased for the new date.
Given our existing commitments and contracts, we cannot offer refunds at this time.
The Event Location & Hotel
The game’s location of Cauldron’s Keep has not changed, but we are currently changing arrangements with our hotel. As such, a new hotel block is not available and the game’s designated hotel may change.
If you have purchased a Blooded or True Monster ticket, you do not need to do anything. Jackalope will handle the new reservations included with these tickets. If you reserved a room with the hotel directly, you will need to contact them to receive a refund.
If you have selected a character, or have a custom character being written, you keep that character for the new 2021 run.
As The Night in Question 2020 looms closer, we’re tackling two important questions today – when will character selection open, and what about the ongoing COVID-19 situation.
Character Selection Begins July 3rd
We will be opening character selection on next weekend, beginning July 3rd. If you have bought a ticket, please watch for emails. Invitations are issued in the order that they were purchased. They will go out at regular intervals over the next two days, allowing ticket holders to select their character using the Larpweaver system.
If you already have Larpweaver account, you will be invited to sign in using your existing account. If you do not have a Larpweaver account, you will receive a special link to register one.
The best place to get support and get questions answered during character selection is the Jackalope Live Action Studios Discord. You can join the Discord using this link: https://discord.gg/zBQb7WZ
The COVID-19 pandemic continues. This raises serious ethical issues about running events like the Night in Question during these times. When the global pandemic began early this year, we held off any rescheduling in hopes that it would be safe and the situation resolved by this September.
Obviously, especially in Texas right now, that is not the case. We won’t go into the reasons, save to say, we are as displeased and disappointed as you are. (The words ‘absolutely furious’ come to mind, but we digress.)
We will be making a decision in the next two weeks. If safety concerns demand it, The Night in Question will be rescheduled for approximately the same time next year. If that happens, we will honor all the tickets for the event for the new date. You will keep the characters you have chosen. However, we will ask for your understanding that we won’t be able to issue refunds when we reschedule. Between event costs, overhead, and staff contracts, we won’t be able to recoup much of the event funds.
People are more important than LARPs, and we know you will understand and bear with us in making the right decisions in this difficult time, when it comes time to make them.
Tickets are now on sale for the 2020 run of the Night in Question! The Night in Question 3 will be the biggest and most refined version of the official Vampire the Masquerade horror experience yet, with a larger game site and more effects. New character arcs and refined story beats will make for an even more amazing game than the last two years.
If you missed out before, now is your chance. If you’ve played before, come and experience a new side of the Sabbat’s wild night.
Want one more of night of terror with the Sabbat? The premier Sabbat horror immersive experience is coming back for one more night, this coming September 2020 to Austin, Texas! Dance in the blood rave! Leap in the fire dance! Dig your way out of your own grave!
Every run of the Night in Question gets better. The feedback has been fantastic, and we’re going to make this next night the best one yet. And as always, splatterpunk as Hell itself.
